Price Hill Lions Club Summary

Chartered in 1928, the Lions Club of Price Hill celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 2003 with numerous events throughout the year and continuing service to the community and the entire Greater Cincinnati area. The club has funded numerous noble causes as well contributed countless hours of volunteer service. The Lions Club of Price Hill participated in rescue and support activities during the great flood in 1937 and helped hundreds of neighbors with funding and clean-up efforts after the deadly spring tornadoes in 1974 and 1999. Primary club focus remains continued support of the sight impaired via assistance in the origination of and annual contributions to The Cincinnati Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired's Early Intervention Program and the newly instituted Rupert Doan Legacy Award. In May the club participates in the annual "Walk in the Park" where Lions team with local A.C.B members, family and friends for a three-mile hike in Sharon Woods followed by a huge picnic. The club also participates in the Price Hill Thanksgiving Day Parade and December Hometown Day in collaboration with Lenscrafters. Members have been involved with Habitat for Humanity, the Delhi Skirt Game, Diabetes screenings and numerous other volunteer efforts. Annual fundraisers include a Final Four party in March/April and the famous Ironman Triathlon outing in June. In an effort to better reflect an expanded service area, in 2005 the club exchanged the ever esteemed Price Hill name for Western Hills. 2007 found our club grateful recipients of the American Council of the Blind of Ohio, Greater Cincinnati Chapter's prestigious "Ken Marrs Award" for recognition of assistance to the visually impaired.  With distinction as the largest Lions Club in Cincinnati and the designation of "Model Club" with participation in Lions International Sightfirst II program, we are proud of our leadership role and reputation within the community.
